EVENTS AND GATHERINGS
Create a unique event at The Cheesemaker’s Inn, where the ambience and amenities are well-suited to intimate gatherings of friends or family. By making a venue reservation with us, you secure the fully furnished common areas of the inn as a starting point. From there, we offer a full spectrum of convenient options to make your gathering more special. You decide if your event will be a do-it-yourself informal gathering; a full-service, catered formal event or anything in-between.
OFFERINGS
We’ll work with you to exceed your expectations. You can select indoor venues, outdoor venues or both. Based on our previous experience, we’ll recommend seating configurations, menus and flows that work best for up to 24 indoor guests. We also offer the outdoor porches and expansive lawn for overflow and larger outdoor parties. All venue areas are located on the first floor. Unfortunately, our home is not handicapped accessible.
A non-refundable deposit of $50 per room per event may be requested in advance of each reservation. If requested, you will receive an email invoice for convenient online payment with a credit card.
Venue rentals begin at $35 and vary depending on number of guests and length of time. Free WiFi and ice are provided. Special rates are made available to overnight guests of the inn.
Indoor Venue
Our intimate dining and living rooms areas, which are the original rooms of our early 20th century farmhouse, create a unique Craftsman-style ambience for indoor events. Our assortment of tables allow for flexibility in seating and table configurations. Tables and chairs can be set up to seat up to 10 in the dining room, and an additional 10 in the adjacent living room (a maximum of 20 can be seated indoors at tables). If a finger-food buffet service or stand-up eating is planned, the maximum indoor seating increases to 25. The venue features a first-floor restroom for guests and access to the front porch to watch a scenic sunset overlooking a rolling Iowa field and grain elevator.
Outdoor Venue
We also offer our expansive lawn for larger, fair weather gatherings. In the past, guests have coordinated with local rental companies to erect tents, tables and chairs for up to 200 people.
Coordination
As the site coordinator for your event, we will meet with you to discuss your plans and share expectations. Topics to consider and plan for include: liquor, liabilities, parking, trash, restrooms, power, sound, caterers, hot/cold storage, and set-up/teardown access before, during and after the event.
To supplement your catered event, The Cheesemaker’s Inn offers food and beverage options to our guests. Menus will often be driven by table/seating configuration and number. Please call for our price list of treats and services.
Table Service and Linens
Fiestaware, glassware, fine china, mason jars, vintage Pella mugs and assorted teacups are available to set the table for your event. Our linens include white linens, Dutch lace, colorful handmade tablecloths, vintage cloths or burlap. Let us do the preparations, so you can relax and enjoy your event. You will sit down to a custom set and decorated table just for you and your guests!
Flower Arrangements
We plant our flower and herb gardens with flower arranging in mind and like to highlight fresh, seasonal blossoms throughout the inn. If you would like us to customize an arrangement for your event, we can do so for you. Please inquire at time of reservation.
Custom Signs and Decorations
Our resident designers of chalkboard signage, custom lettering, calligraphy and photography can help you make your event unique and special. Consider placecards, invitations, gifts for the special guest or take home gifts for the attendees. Please contact us for more information or portfolios of their previous projects.
