General Layout of the Inn
Our home was renovated and custom-built for accommodating guests, and our guests can enjoy being as private or as social as they choose. Guests can mix and mingle in our first-floor family room, dining area and porches, or choose to relax in their own second-floor room, each with its own sitting area and private bath (see rooms here).
Each room includes individual thermostat comfort controls, smart TV with remote and Wi-Fi access up to 5G. Our rooms are meticulously maintained with thoughtful attention to detail and designed for single or double occupancy. All four guest rooms are located on the second floor and are not handicapped accessible.
At the top of the stairs to the guest rooms is a library/reading area and beverage station which offers complimentary soft drinks, single-serve coffees and an assortment of teas. Browse through novels, periodicals and local literature there or take them to rocking chairs or the swing on our front porch to browse while you take in the sunset over Iowa’s rolling fields.
All four rooms are similar in size, with Val’s and Anne’s suites being the largest. Val’s Room is the only room with a fireplace, and Anne’s Room features a jacuzzi tub with hand-held rinse wand. The significant differences are in the bathrooms—Anne’s Room has the jacuzzi tub for bathing, Gina’s Room has a walk-in shower stall, while Val’s and Jill’s Rooms have a more traditional tub/shower combo.
Our home is situated on a 2-acre lot, so there’s plenty of room for parking, lawn activities, gardens and flowerbeds. Many guests are drawn to explore a walk down the Volksweg Trail directly in front of the inn. You can follow the 12-mile trail to the dam and along Lake Red Rock’s north shoreline to its western trailhead (see local attractions links). The options for food, outdoor and entertainment activities in Pella and the Lake Red Rock countryside are robust, and we’ll guide you to explore the best.
